Council approves Twisp Fest road closure, support letter for trails, 3% hangar lease increase and routine vouchers

The Twisp Town Council approved several routine and project-related items during its Sept. 9 meeting. Council Member Will Menzies moved to approve the Twisp Fest road-closure request; Council Member Tim Matsui seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council also approved a letter of support for the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance’s North Summit Trails request after Joshua Gewirtz presented the group’s request and Menzies moved to "approve a letter of support on letterhead and with the voice of Twisp." Council Member Matsui seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On airport business the council approved a 3% increase in hangar lease rates (motion by Council Member Tim Matsui, seconded by Council Member Katrina Auburn) and directed staff to continue evaluating future airport items. Council discussed a narcotics task force participation fee increase with Sergeant Petker and affirmed willingness to remain in the Task Force while asking staff to assess budget impacts before finalizing payment. The council also discussed the hotel/motel lodging tax and requested that staff conduct additional outreach to local lodging owners as they consider the maximum 4% rate. The consent agenda — which included Accounts Payable Checks #40118-40142 for $177,817.48, Payroll EFT Transactions totaling $68,581.78 and a payroll check for $42.00 — was moved by Menzies, seconded by Matsui and approved unanimously, recording a combined vouchers total of $246,421.26.
