County Manager Thomas Weaver updated the commission that the sheriff located external funding that will supply 10 Harris radio units at no upfront cost to the county; as a result, the county would only pay the ongoing monthly service, identified in staff discussion as $300 per month, with billing to begin in the next fiscal year.
Weaver told commissioners the original estimated equipment cost had been about $78,000 before the grant was found. Commissioners praised the sheriff for finding funding and staff noted there are 30 to 60 days to accept the proposal. The county agreed to add the service agreement to a future agenda so commissioners can authorize the monthly service payment when appropriate.
