Cayuga County grants temporary easement to allow pole barn encroachment near Hojack Trail

The Cayuga County Legislature approved a temporary easement to allow an existing pole barn on adjacent private property to remain where it encroaches roughly 6.8 feet onto County-owned land along Sterling Station Road (Tax Map No. 12.00-1-25), commonly known as the Hojack Trail.
The resolution includes a maintenance buffer of 10 feet and states the easement will terminate once the structure is moved or demolished. Because the County property is parkland, the Legislature required the private owner (Rebecca Hendricks Living Trust) to grant a concurrent temporary easement to the County for an equal-sized portion of her property to mitigate parkland alienation concerns; the action was declared a Type II action under SEQRA and approved to take effect immediately.
