A front-setback variance for a 76-by-28 mobile home at 8460 Idlewood Drive was approved Nov. 10 by the Horry County Zoning Board. Applicant Mark Harden said he bought the lot and positioned the home lengthwise to create a backyard for his family; he presented neighbor and HOA letters supporting the siting.
Board questions focused on whether the unit could be shifted to meet setbacks. Harden said moving the home back would put it in a rear easement and would prevent a usable yard. The board voted to approve the variance with standard conditions, noting letters of neighbor support and that the proposal would not substantially detract from the character of the district.
