The Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals voted Nov. 10 to allow an in-ground pool to be located on the street/corner side of a lot at 263 Lysoid Circle, concluding there were extraordinary site conditions for the request.
Applicant Amy Steele told the board she bought the house with the intention of providing pool therapy for her special-needs son and said the HOA provided letters of approval. "I have a special needs son who gets pool therapy," Steele told the board. Board members asked technical questions but signaled sympathy for her circumstances and ultimately supported the request on a motion citing the lot’s unusual configuration.
The board approved the variance as presented and advised the applicant to work with county staff to ensure final permitting and compliance with standard conditions.
