Residents raise concerns about speed bumps and a missing turning signal at council meeting

At the Sept. 10 meeting, resident Mike Curran questioned the purpose and placement of speed bumps near the park, said they can "tear up vehicles," and said he had not been invited to the last traffic advisory committee meeting despite serving on it. Council/staff responded that a speed bump exists on Burton Avenue and one is planned for Thomas Street, and that Chief Godwin has final authority on placement decisions.
Curran also asked whether a turning light could be added where a turning lane exists at Buckhannon Pike and Pennsylvania Avenue. Mayor Sam Maxson said he will contact the WV DOH for information on the intersection. Resident Shirley Sheets later asked where additional speed bumps will be placed; the mayor said Thomas Street is next and that additional suggestions would be brought to the traffic advisory committee.
