The Tecumseh Local Board of Education on July 21 approved a consent calendar of personnel actions that included certified and classified resignations, new hires and a large slate of supplemental athletic positions for the 2026–27 school year.
Board President Matthew Mills presided as the board accepted the resignation of Eric Phelps, a math teacher at Tecumseh High School, effective July 8, 2026, and recorded classified resignations including Melissa McNabb (bus driver) effective July 15, 2026 and Marley Collins (guidance secretary) effective July 31, 2026. On the hire side, the board approved Steve Linson as principal at Tecumseh High School effective Aug. 1, 2026, and Kayla Lucas as a high‑school math teacher effective Aug. 13, 2026, along with paraprofessionals, child‑nutrition and multiple bus drivers listed in the minutes as beginning Aug. 13, 2026.
The board also approved a comprehensive list of supplemental athletic assignments for the upcoming school year. Among the appointments the minutes list: Head Varsity Football Coach Randy Kerns; Head Varsity Boys Soccer Coach Alberto Gonzalez; Head Varsity Volleyball Coach Caitlin Cory; and several assistants and middle‑school coaches. The minutes state salary and stipends will be paid per the negotiated agreement.
The personnel consent motions were adopted by roll call: many items recorded four ayes with Member Matlock‑Mooney abstaining on certain personnel motions, while other consent items passed 5‑0 as noted in the minutes.
