Nutter Fort considers LED streetlight swap that could save about $400 monthly

Treasurer Leslie Cummings presented a pilot to test lower-wattage LED fixtures on two town streets, saying the goal is to reduce operating costs while preserving adequate lighting. "If we utilize the 130-watt LED, it will be a cost savings of $4.43 per light per month, and on the 100‑watt streetlights, if we utilize the 50‑watt LED, it will be a cost savings of $2.93 per light per month," she reported.
Cummings noted the town inventory includes 126 of the 100‑watt lights and eight 200‑watt lights; at those counts she estimated "total savings of around $400 per month if we switch." Council did not take immediate action to adopt a purchase plan; the treasurer said the town is piloting a light change on Buckhannon Pike and Pennsylvania Avenue to verify illumination levels before wider implementation. The council may revisit the proposal at a future supervisor meeting focused on additional cost-savings ideas.
