The superintendent presented a retire–rehire resolution for Chris Elliott, saying Elliott intends to retire May 31 and the district plans to rehire her next year in the same position under the state's retire–rehire provisions.
"Her retirement date is effective May 31. Our intent is to bring her back next year as a retire rehire. Per the contract, retired employees who are rehired are brought in at step 4 of the contract... Her current salary is $76,838," the superintendent said, noting the rehired employee would remain at step 4 and that the district expects cost savings by rehiring experienced staff at a lower step. The superintendent also said the board must pass the resolution and wait at least 60 days before rehiring to allow public discussion.
