During public comment a resident described an unusual spike in her water bills after she left town to care for a family member. The resident said she normally receives low bills but "the March bill was $760.81" and later received a bill of about "$979.72," and she asked for partial or full forgiveness or another form of relief due to age and financial hardship.
Board members advised that account-level details should not be aired in open meeting minutes and offered to meet after the meeting to review the resident's account. The chair suggested taking the conversation off the public record and staff offered to work with the resident to verify the account and explore repayment or forgiveness options consistent with village policy and past practice.
