Resident urges action on speeding on Junction Road: 'Somebody's gonna die out there'

At the Village of Davis Junction meeting, resident Greg Schwanke of 6546 North Junction Road delivered an extended public comment urging immediate action to address speeders and dangerous driving on Junction Road. Schwanke described a recent near-collision in which his truck was sideswiped and said enforcement is inconsistent: "I told Rick one day, I said, somebody's gonna die out here," he said, urging trustees to visit his porch early in the morning to hear traffic for themselves.
The board acknowledged the safety concerns but noted limits tied to jurisdiction and enforcement resources. Trustees and staff discussed possible measures including targeted radar enforcement by the county, road striping and other engineering options, and whether the village would need to consider local patrols. Schwanke also raised concerns about possible industrial development and a data center near the tracks, which he said could increase traffic and safety risk.
