The Le Roy Central School District Board of Education on Dec. 15 approved a series of personnel actions that included new probationary and substitute hires, coaching appointments and administrative role changes.
Acting on Superintendent Merritt Holly’s recommendations, the board approved the probationary appointment of Mariana Higgins as a Teaching Assistant (four‑year probationary appointment effective Dec. 8, 2025) and the creation of a 1.0 FTE probationary teaching assistant position. It also approved probationary appointment Shawnee Staats (Teaching Assistant) effective Jan. 5, 2026. Votes on these items were recorded as 6 Yes, 0 No, 1 Absent (Mrs. Duthe).
The board approved long‑term substitute business teacher Scott Curtis (effective Dec. 10, 2025–June 26, 2026) at a per‑diem rate of $303.50 and appointed Bobbie Turner as Permanent Building Substitute Teacher (effective Jan. 5, 2026–June 23, 2026) at $217.50 per diem. Substitute teacher appointments effective Dec. 16, 2025 were approved for Leah Kowalczyk, Michael McGowan and Connor Guercia (each pending required district training or fingerprinting where noted). Two substitute reinstatements (Lindsay Weise and Anthony Macaluso) were also approved.
Coaching appointments for the 2025‑26 school year were approved, including modified baseball coach Ethan Chadbourne and multiple volunteer assistant coaches; Angela Cain’s resignation from modified winter cheerleading was accepted pending her appointment as junior varsity winter cheerleading coach under a Memorandum of Agreement with the Le Roy Teachers’ Association. The board approved Ricky Corcimiglia’s appointment as Cleaner (one‑year probationary period, effective Dec. 16, 2025; salary 75% of SEIU rate or $17.02/hr).
The board terminated Dr. David Russell as Extraclassroom Treasurer effective Dec. 14, 2025, and appointed Thomas Kopp as Interim Extraclassroom Treasurer effective Dec. 15, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Other status changes approved included changing Molly Stanley from probationary to permanent athletic trainer (effective Dec. 20, 2025) and changing John Veitch to permanent school bus driver (effective Jan. 2, 2026).
