Principals provided building-level reports to the Board. Turnpike Elementary reported attendance rates by grade (example: UPK 89.4% in November; K 89%) and noted that 80% of professional-development participants rated the Nov. 1 conference a 4 or 5 out of 5. Popular PD sessions included breathwork, massage, Kami and Canva, and staff requested more training on restorative practices and student mental health.
Knickerbacker Middle School and Lansingburgh High School reports covered curriculum initiatives, SEL activities and data collection for instruction. The minutes record specific programming notes such as KMS implementing inquiry-based math instruction and LHS preparing for Next Gen Regents alignment.
Dr. Antonio Abitabile reported that "The PreK Aftercare Program will be returning after Thanksgiving break," that administrators will attend Option Based Training next month, and that new architects will meet with Bob Schongar next Wednesday to begin a Building Condition Survey that will drive the district’s next capital project. He also referenced Education Law §3012-e and the STEPS guidance for locally designed educator evaluation systems.
