The resolution, adopted on a motion by Jason Karcher and seconded by Christine Dowell, sets the estimated cost at $1,100,000 and specifies that up to $600,000 would come from the district's 2019 Capital Reserve Fund while the balance, not to exceed $500,000, would be raised by tax levies in installments. The resolution references Section 416 of the Education Law and directs the District Clerk to publish notice in The Batavia Daily News and to provide absentee‑ballot procedures.
Board President Jacalyn Whiting recorded the roll call after adoption: Ayes — Christine Dowell, Rachael Greene, Jason Karcher, Peter Loftus, William MacKenzie and Jacalyn Whiting; Nays — none; Absent — Denise Duthe. The resolution will appear on the ballot at the Wolcott Street School Library/Media Center with polls open from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
If approved by voters, the district intends to use the capital reserve funds first and to levy the remaining authorized amount in annual installments, partially offset by state aid as available. Absentee ballot applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the vote if the ballot is to be mailed, or by the day before the vote if the ballot will be picked up in person.
