District staff told the Committee of the Whole on Aug. 18 that finalized cursive curriculum materials will be presented to the full board at its Sept. 2 meeting for review.
A staff member said, "it'll be presented at the September 2nd board meeting." Presenters also noted that statewide assessments have shifted toward online delivery and that keyboarding instruction is already part of the library curriculum. Mrs. Donato said the district has been incorporating keyboarding skills and described the planned balance between handwriting and digital skills as part of the library program.
The presenter described the assessment landscape as moving to online formats beginning with the 2025–26 school year and said the district is teaching keyboarding alongside cursive to ensure students can meet both assessment and everyday signing needs. No formal adoption occurred at the committee meeting; staff will return with curriculum materials for board consideration on Sept. 2.
