Monroe County committee approves 12 measures including 2026–2031 Capital Improvement Program

The Monroe County Environment & Public Works Committee met on May 19, 2025 and unanimously approved a slate of 12 resolutions covering environmental reviews, construction and design contracts, housing programs and the county’s 2026–2031 Capital Improvement Program. Each motion was recorded as adopted 7-0.

Key approvals included SEQRA classifications for multiple HOME-funded housing projects and local sidewalk work; contracts authorizing construction management and professional design services; and an amendment accepting additional grant funding and increasing bond financing for the Highland Park 9/11 First Responders Memorial. Motions were consistently moved by Legislator Rose Bonnick and seconded by Legislator Howard Maffucci, and the meeting was called to order and adjourned by Chairwoman Susan Hughes-Smith. The committee scheduled its next meeting for June 23, 2025.

The adopted measures on the agenda (resolutions 25-0152, 25-0154, 25-0156, 25-0157, 25-0158, 25-0162, 25-0163, 25-0164, 25-0165, 25-0166, 25-0167, 25-0189) address a mix of capital investments, housing program classifications under the HOME program and American Rescue Plan funding, and local infrastructure projects. Several items referenced state and federal funding programs and local bond financing; the committee took no floor debate as recorded in the minutes and took final votes on each item.
