Board approves roughly $20.6 million FY2025 budget amendment

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a resolution approving a FY2025 budget amendment totaling about $20.6 million.

Bridal Davidson, Deputy Chief in the Office of Management and Budget, told the board the amendment primarily comprises roughly $11.6 million in special revenues (economic development, housing and vehicle replacement funds), about $4.4 million in general-fund reappropriations, $3.4 million in grant appropriations (including recent FEMA SAFER funds, ARPA reappropriations and opioid-related settlements) and $1.2 million in capital funds for water-resource projects and contributions to joint court and Library Avenue work. "Overall, the budget amendment for tonight is approximately $20,600,000," Davidson said during his presentation.

Chair Jim Andrews opened the required public hearing (the Virginia code triggers a public hearing when an amendment exceeds 1% of the adopted budget). No public speakers spoke specifically against the amendment; Supervisor Anne Malek moved to adopt the resolution in Attachment B and Supervisor Diane McKeel seconded. The clerk called the roll and the motion passed by unanimous vote.

The staff presentation and the adopted resolution indicate the amendment includes a mix of recurring reappropriations and one-time grants; the board directed staff to proceed under the terms set out in the staff report and Attachment B. The vote completes the board-level approval step for the items included in the resolution.
