Steger Community Center reports rising attendance, plans June assistance weekend

Community Center Director Fay Kiaurakis told trustees the center will host a Community Assistance weekend June 6–8, 2026 that will include a DMV pop-up on June 8, a blood drive with the Red Cross and on-site signups with Gift of Hope. "The Community Center will be hosting a Community Assistance weekend June 6, 7 & 8, 2026," she said, and noted she is coordinating additional partner programs.

Kiaurakis reported program attendance and revenue figures: for December the center ran 11 programs with combined revenue of $3,330; in the first weeks of January (Jan. 1–19) she said program activity generated $4,277 with 18 programs currently running. She provided past-year totals as context, saying, "In 2024 the center brought in $22,627.00, in 2025 the center brought in $19,454.00." Kiaurakis said donated refreshments and supplies helped recent events and that she expects continued program growth if costs remain controlled.

The director also mentioned a new building-usage form and updated code of conduct circulated to trustees; she encouraged continued outreach to grow membership and programs.
