Referendum projects largely on budget; two elementary additions running slightly behind

At the August board meeting, district project staff provided a status update on work funded by the Phase 2 referendum passed in April 2025. Brian Yerke introduced Jim Fox (district project manager) and Nate Considine (Bray Architects) to review construction at Karl Treggor, Oakwood and Franklin elementaries and air‑conditioning work at Lakeside, Emeline Cook and Reed.

Presenters said the Karl Treggor classroom addition is nearly complete and expected to reach substantial completion this week; the new classrooms, flooring and casework are in and playground and parking work are being finished. Oakwood’s addition walls and gymnasium masonry are rising and interior renovations (bathrooms, cabinetry, ceilings) are ready to accept furniture. Franklin’s large east parking lot and temporary playground configuration are in place; the southern half of the new lot will be secured as a temporary playground while construction continues. The air‑conditioning projects at Lakeside, Emeline Cook and Reed have had chillers started by contractors and are on schedule for the August 14 substantial‑completion milestone.

Project teams emphasized phasing plans designed to avoid moving students mid‑day and to secure active construction areas. Administrators said they will continue communicating with building families about bus stops, drop‑off changes and site safety and that they donated salvageable playground equipment and other materials to local nonprofits.
