District rolls out universal classroom walkthrough to standardize brief observations

Hodges said the form focuses on four areas—what students are doing (DOK), what the teacher is doing, lesson structure and classroom environment—and asks observers to note computer programs, consistency, use of support staff and whether classroom doors are locked. She highlighted "notes for reflection" as a chance to leave brief positive feedback. Board members praised the form as a useful, consistent foundation; one member said it "makes me wanna go back and be principal again," while noting that training and follow-up are required for effective use.
The presentation was informational; the board did not take a separate vote but members expressed support for using the template and for further staff training.
