Small-business owner says Raleigh County Schools restricted his company without explanation

Jonathan Cruz told the board that his company, School Bus Solutions, has been restricted from doing business with Raleigh County Schools for more than three months and that he has received little substantive information explaining why.
Cruz said he repeatedly requested meetings, emails and documentation and that the superintendent’s written reply earlier the same day stated only that "the review remains active." He told the board, "After more than 3 months, I find that level of communication unacceptable," and asked the board to help bring the matter to "a fair and transparent conclusion." Cruz also noted a perceived inconsistency: he said shirts supporting "I love Raleigh County Public Schools" were produced by a business owned by the husband of a district employee and promoted by the superintendent while his company remained restricted.
Cruz asked for the policy basis for the restriction, any findings or documentation, and an opportunity to respond or correct problems if any exist. The board heard the comment during public comment; no formal board action or vote addressing his request was recorded at the meeting.
