Schools report attendance initiatives and upcoming ELA/Math boot camps

Principals at Turnpike, Rensselaer Park, Knickerbacker Middle School and Lansingburgh High School reported on attendance, interventions and upcoming boot camps during the board meeting.
Turnpike reported TES attendance at 83% for February (90% YTD) and described classroom attendance activities, prize milestones and random giveaways to encourage daily attendance. RPES noted February attendance at 86.2% and invited 35 students to ELA and Math Boot Camp based on January I-Ready results, with additional students added by teacher recommendation. KMS will begin ELA and Math boot camps in March to prepare students for NYS assessments; LHS reported SEL programming including the M-Power series and Project AWARE screener for 10th graders.
Principals provided intervention counts (for example, TES AIS Reading 103 total, 22% of students) and described Tier 2 and Tier 3 movement figures and provider staffing. These items were provided in building reports and recorded in the minutes.
