Superintendent lays out three goals: foundation, attendance push and equity advisory committee

The Superintendent presented three proposed priorities for 2025–26: continuing development of the Seaside School District Foundation and its bylaws; developing and implementing a plan to increase districtwide attendance; and creating a district equity advisory committee in line with Oregon Department of Education guidance. The Superintendent said, "The goals that I am proposing for 20 25, 26, continue to develop the Seaside, school district foundation," and described ongoing work to draft bylaws and convene a seven-member foundation board.
On attendance the Superintendent described June work with the leadership team and said the district has an attendance specialist named Whitney who is scheduled to work with the leadership team in August to help craft the plan. Concerning equity, the Superintendent said the district completed an equity audit this year and reminded the board that "all districts by September 15 are required to have an equity advisory committee to advise the board," noting seven community members have already expressed interest. When asked whether the state provided resources for the mandate, the Superintendent answered "No," and board members described that requirement as an "unfunded mandate."
