Board approves disposal of two surplus school buses, recommends sale to Warrenton

The Seaside School District board voted to declare two buses surplus and authorize their disposal after the superintendent recommended selling them to the Warrenton School District.
Superintendent Susan told the board the buses are "no longer useful to us" and suggested selling them to Warrenton, which had expressed interest. "I also, recommend that, that these buses be sold to Warren Warrenton School District, because they're interested in purchasing these buses," she said. Board members discussed fleet levels and noted the district has two new buses on order to arrive later, and that surplus disposals do not require buying replacements immediately.
A motion to approve the disposal was made and seconded and the board voted in favor. The district will work with a bus valuation company and the standard surplus process to determine sale price and transfer. The board noted lead times for new buses have extended recently, so maintaining fleet continuity is a planning priority.
