HPE elementary report: 50 students served in summer, adjustments to breakfast and staffing

At the Aug. 10 board meeting HPE representative Miss Kathleen summarized elementary summer programming and operational adjustments.
She reported that the HPE summer program served 50 students in grades K–6 under the direction of Shanda Wagner and that kindergarten enrollment stands at 29 (a decrease from the prior year), though the count does not yet include Head Start transitioning students. "At HPE, we were able to serve 50 students in kindergarten through 6th grade," Miss Kathleen said.
Miss Kathleen explained that, because of reduced kitchen staffing, the district will implement a grab‑and‑go breakfast model with a single serving line in the main hallway; staff are monitoring logistics and may tweak procedures after the first weeks of school. She also described continued emphasis on attendance initiatives and updates to the Title I schoolwide plan.
