During her presentation, Mrs. Donato reviewed math I‑Ready and PSSA/Keystone outcomes and said the district had seen substantial movement of students into tier‑1 math placements across elementary grades. She noted kindergarten growth from about 40% to 82% in tier‑1 between winter and the final diagnostic and reported middle‑school academic growth scores near the state average.
Donato identified fractions as a key area behind 5th‑grade weakness and described steps taken: sending 4th and 5th grade teachers to specific fraction instruction training (concrete‑representational‑abstract), expanding Title I math interventions in K–1, and adding a two‑part algebra sequence at the high school to better scaffold students. "Fractions are a key in that being slightly lower," she said, and pointed to immediate growth already visible in fall‑to‑winter I‑Ready results after teachers began applying new strategies.
The district also reported a 100% growth indicator on an algebra Keystone cohort tied to course‑sequence changes, and noted use of targeted remediation tools such as AFlex at the high school. Donato said administrators will continue triangulating multiple data points to place students and guide instruction.
