State payments ease cash flow; changes to cyber charter tuition reduce 25-26 cost

Missus Lentz told the committee that the state began processing payments Nov. 18 and the district received the bulk of its back pay by Dec. 1 — "over almost over $7,000,000," she said — which allowed the district to avoid short-term borrowing that some districts required.
Lentz also described a change in how the state calculates cyber charter tuition that lets districts take specific deductions (for example, excluding cyber-enrolled students from certain ADM counts and deducting tuition paid to cyber charters). Using the districts Dec. 22 enrollment of 211 students, she said the district now estimates it will spend about $4,300,000 on cyber charter tuition for 25-26, roughly $431,000 less than the originally budgeted $4.8 million and materially below a previously projected $5.3 million figure.
