The Claymont City School District Board of Education approved a resolution to close Claymont Intermediate at the end of the 2025–2026 school year and to realign grade assignments across the district. Mr. Peters, presiding, presented the resolution and Mrs. Host moved to approve it; Ms. Campbell seconded. On roll call Mrs. Host and Ms. Campbell voted yes, Mr. Peters voted yes, and Mrs. Wolf voted no. The motion carried, 3–1.
The resolution specifies the reassignment of students: eighth-grade students will attend the high school; fourth- and fifth-grade students will be assigned to the middle school; third-grade students will be assigned to the elementary school. The board took the action after a review of "building considerations and options" presented earlier by Superintendent Brian Rentsch. The minutes record the effective timing as the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The public minutes do not include additional implementation details such as timelines for transfers, specific classroom or staffing reallocations, or budget impacts.
