Good Place Farmbed‑and‑breakfast proposal tabled as council seeks clearer code language

Farmer and applicant Brianne Cloudis (Good Place Farm) described her 15‑acre organic operation and asked council to allow farm stays that would support her business and provide educational experiences. "If Chat Hills can become a place where farmers know they will be welcome... they will flock to the area," she said.

Multiple farmers and neighbors spoke in support. Speakers said farm stays help small and mid‑sized farms diversify income, provide educational programming and strengthen community ties. Planning staff told council the current bed‑and‑breakfast definition does not clearly permit separate lodging units on farms and recommended tabling the permit until a related text amendment can be considered; the council voted 4–1 to table the application to the June 2 meeting.

Staff said the pending UDC amendment (first read that night) would narrowly allow bed‑and‑breakfast units on farms to be located in facilities separate from the principal dwelling, but councilors indicated a desire to discuss a broader lodging / glamping approach in the coming weeks. No final permit was approved at the meeting.
