Directors of instruction and CSE told the board March 18 that the district is preparing for a larger number of students who will require special‑education services in 2026‑27 and is scheduling staff and provider resources accordingly.
Mary Grace Camin summarized the March 12 conference day—certification advising, first‑grade phonics work, and mandated‑reporting training completion—while Michael Williams reported that 7th and 8th grade annual reviews are complete and 6th grade reviews are underway. Williams said Dr. Rachel Cavalari from the Institute for Child Development led an autism training on the conference day, and district staff are planning and scheduling with Speech and OT providers to ensure services are available for the coming year.
Williams also noted the district is coordinating with outside agencies and using new software tools (Mindex, Kami pilot referenced by Mr. Howey) to support case management and accommodations. The board accepted these reports as part of routine presentations; there was no formal board vote tied to the updates.
