Finance Committee appoints Patricia Creedon to fill vacancy

The Dennis Finance Committee voted unanimously Aug. 12 to appoint Patricia 'Patty' Creedon to the committee’s open seat.

Committee member (S7) moved to appoint Creedon; another member (S9) seconded the nomination. During discussion, members highlighted Creedon’s grant and nonprofit experience as a qualification the committee currently lacks. As S9 said in support when explaining the second, “She’s worked with grants. She’s worked with nonprofits. That alone is a field that we have very little experience with in the town.”

Chair called the vote after discussion; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote and the chair told Creedon to visit the town clerk’s office to be sworn in. The chair also noted the committee’s next meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. one week later in the same room, when members will start reviewing warrant articles for a special town meeting.

Creedon, who told the committee she has experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets, nonprofit fundraising and technology initiatives, said she looks forward to serving and asked that materials be sent to her in advance. The committee encouraged the two candidates who were not appointed to remain engaged for future openings.
