The Bangor School District board approved two personnel hires during the Aug. 12 meeting. After a search that produced 15 applicants and five interviewees for an added 4K section, administration recommended hiring Leah Kidd; the board approved the hire. Administrators said current enrollment (47 students with a small wait list) justified adding the section.
On the special-education hire, administration recommended Michelle Berg Matson — a paraeducator with prior substitute and para experience — for an elementary special‑education teacher role, to be served under an emergency license in the near term. Mr. Luke summarized reference checks and staff confidence in both candidates. "This person was born to be a 4 k teacher," Mr. Luke said of Leah Kidd during the presentation. Both hires were approved on recorded motions.
