The Bangor School District board voted to update its teacher compensation-point schedule, changing how teachers earn credit toward moves on the district pay scale. Administration recommended lowering the proportion of points tied to professional development from the historical 60% to 40% (reducing required PD points from 36 to 24 in the six‑year cycle) and increasing points for leadership and community involvement.
"So moving that to 40% to 24 points of the 60 have to come from that category," said Dr. Brackham while outlining the change. The administration also added Schedule C incentives to give coaches and advisors additional points (an example noted was $2.50 per 0.25 day as an incentive), and said points will continue to be tracked on a district spreadsheet and verified by principals before final approval. The board approved the revision on a motion and discussed tracking and documentation procedures for teachers who are due to move on the scale this year.
