Trustee Cody Cash told the Cherokee County School Board on July 27 that he will not seek reelection and members paid tribute to his time on the board.
After the Chair recognized Cash, the trustee spoke briefly and several colleagues offered praise. A Committee member defended the board against recent outside criticism, saying, "they they care about the kids in this community." (Cody Cash) The Chair described Cash as "dedicated" and said he began as a teacher in the district and has served in multiple roles. The Chair also announced, "His seat is up for election, on August 11." (Chair)
Multiple board members and others expressed appreciation, calling Cash a "steady hand" whose tone and temperament were valued. No formal successor was named at the meeting.
