Pat Hyatt told the board the applicants are applying for a $100,000 grant to fund the after‑school tutoring program, which applicants say will support special‑education needs as well as general remediation. On transportation, applicants said charters are not automatically required to provide busing but that they are pursuing appropriations through state legislative contacts and may contract for bus services if needed. "We do not [exclude students with IEPs]," Hyatt said when asked about the lottery selection process; she added that they will accept students as they come and add staff as necessary.
Board members requested more detailed written plans for special‑education staffing, transportation logistics and estimated percentages of students who would require bus service before moving forward.
