District recognizes students, coaches and staff with awards and academic honors
Summary
At the May 18 meeting the board recognized Special Olympics athletes, district perfect-test scorers, scholar winners, athletic champions and Crystal Apple award recipients across Cherokee County schools.
The board used the early portion of the meeting to recognize student and staff achievements from March and April. Awards included Special Olympics athletes (elementary, middle and high school athletes named), district SC Ready perfect scorers, district spelling-bee and art contest winners, Scholar Academy and early-college graduates, Palmetto State attendees and multiple athletic honors including an all-state running back and state strength champions.
Staff and community awards included the Albert K. Fretwell outstanding educator award, Crystal Apple award winners for administrators, certified staff and substitutes, and recognition of several coaches and teachers for program leadership. "Congratulations," presenters said as each honoree was called forward; the board invited awardees and families to remain for photos and encouraged community attendance at upcoming graduations.
