Dr. Yanni told the board he is "so proud to announce that all 9 varsity teams in the full season have achieved the scholar athlete team status." He said the designation requires the average GPA of the top 75% of each roster to be 90 or greater and credited coaches, staff and new athletic director Shannon McEntee for the accomplishment.
The superintendent also highlighted the girls varsity volleyball team, which won the Long Island championship and finished fourth in the New York State tournament, calling it the team's first trip to states. He praised the district's music and theater programs, saying the Vernon production of Willy Wonka involved 164 students and drew more than 1,100 parents across two events. Dr. Yanni noted the district recently inducted 29 students into the Tri‑M Music Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society and thanked parents and staff for their support.
