Superintendent says state permit delay holding up Phase 3 of bond project; district ready to proceed
Summary
Board members asked why Phase 3 of the district's 21st Century bond project has been delayed; Superintendent Dr. Yanni said district submissions were on time but state approval is delayed and the state does not provide reasons; he said work will begin as soon as a permit is issued and estimated possible completion by December if permit arrives soon.

Board members pressed the superintendent about a delay to Phase 3 of the district’s 21st Century bond project after a letter from resident Tom Winhausen asked for clarity.
"The submission was made on time and like I said, I don't I I just don't have the reason why the state is delaying on it," Superintendent Dr. Yanni said, adding that the state does not provide a reason for delays. He said the district will reconvene the architect, construction manager and district team once the permit is granted and "go full force," and expressed hope the work could be finished by December if approvals arrive.
Dr. Yanni reminded the board that Phase 2 has been completed on time and under budget and described the project as taking place in a difficult post-COVID supply environment. Board members thanked district staff for bringing Phase 2 in under budget and noted the bond originally was approximately $30,000,000.
No specific state rationale for the delay was presented at the meeting; Dr. Yanni said the reason is outside district control. The board recorded the exchange as information for the public and did not take a parallel formal action other than to request that the district notify the community immediately upon receipt of state permits.
