Laurens board approves summer staffing, probation correction and maternity leave

The Laurens Central School District Board of Education approved a cluster of personnel actions at its June 18 meeting, including a retroactive correction to an elementary teacher's probationary appointment and several summer work and program staffing decisions.
The board voted 5-0-0 to correct Kayla Welsh's probationary appointment so it is retroactive to May 20, 2025, with a revised potential expiration date of May 19, 2029. The board also approved summer work appointments: Tom Lisi for an additional 20 days and Ross Gardner for an additional five days (compensation set at 1/200th of their annual salary for each day). The board authorized Summer CROP program staffing that names Jessica DeBoer as site coordinator and lists activity leaders Marie Mish, Monica Kovacs, Yvonne Angell, Christina Wooley and Jennifer Shutters; the program will use Laurens staff and substitutes as needed and be funded by the CROP grant.
Other personnel items approved included contract amendments for district administrators and staff, the resignation of Katarina Moore effective June 30, 2025, the appointment of Annemarrie Winchester as an ESY substitute aide, and appointment details for 2025''6 school roles (eligibility chair, arts coordinator, bus dispatcher, tax collector, records management and co-team leaders). All motions on personnel carried 5-0-0.
