Parent urges transparency as Upper Adams faces wave of staff departures

Katie Schroeder, a parent of three and a member of the Cantor Educational Foundation, urged the Upper Adams School District board to explain recent personnel choices and improve transparency. "I'm here tonight because I have serious concerns about the amount of turnover we are experiencing and what that means for stability, oversight, and ultimately our students," Schroeder said, listing departures that include the director of student services, the director of business operations and transportation, and a high-school vice principal.
Schroeder pressed administrators to explain why an interim business manager began work before the board publicly approved a contract and asked which board members were notified. She noted the superintendent cited "policy 304" as the authority for engaging someone before board approval and said the community deserved to know who authorized that decision and how compensation was determined. Schroeder emphasized the request was about transparency, not an accusation of wrongdoing.
