The Santiam Canyon School Board conducted the first reading of Policy JFCEB on personal electronic devices during its Sept. 10 meeting. Board members discussed changes and directed the administration to revise the policy text to explicitly allow students to keep phones on their person.
The board set the effective date for the revised policy as Jan. 1, 2026. Superintendent Krista Nieraeth will incorporate the requested language and bring the policy back for a final read at the October meeting. No final adoption occurred at this session; the matter remains at first-read stage.
