Board hears bond update; parent urges using leftover funds to replace field turf

Chief Financial Officer Lance Rainey presented a high-level overview of the 2023 Bond Election order and reported that all authorized bond projects are finalized except the Multipurpose Student Center, which is nearing completion. Rainey estimated residual funds remain from Propositions A and B but emphasized that "any potential expenditure of these residual funds must strictly align with the legal guidelines established in the original bond propositions."

A Brock ISD parent asked the board to evaluate the condition of the baseball and softball field turf and to consider allocating remaining bond funds toward turf replacement. Athletic Director Chad Massey told trustees that safety testing conducted in the early spring "confirmed that the fields remain safe for student-athlete use." Assistant Superintendent Troy Roberts reviewed the administrative rationale for proposed capital priorities tied to remaining bond funds. Board members did not take immediate action reallocating bond funds at the meeting.
