The Central Square superintendent told the board the district is moving forward to host STEM and CHIP camps in collaboration with Micron and OCM BOCES.
"So, Steve had a connection where he used to work downtown, who had a connection with or he had a connection with, Robert Simmons, great, representative from Micron," the Superintendent said, describing the chain of contacts that led to planning discussions. She said district superintendents will meet with Matt Cook of OCM BOCES and Robert Simmons of Micron to "iron out" details and scheduling for events the district will host.
The Superintendent said the initiative will involve the nine component districts and BOCES administrative teams and that Micron "will get the beverages and the food for all the people that are there, at Central Square." Board members noted the relationship with Micron has been developing over the last two years through Cook's outreach and said Central Square was joining an established regional effort.
Board members discussed timing and next steps: the superintendent said she will convene the superintendents and host-planning meetings, including a doodle poll to find dates. No budget figures or formal agreements were discussed during the meeting; the discussion focused on partnership logistics and scheduling.
