Mary, a resident who addressed the board during public comment, urged the district to reconsider locating the proposed athletic complex adjacent to neighborhood homes, stressing privacy and other community concerns. "Still, none of us think the athletic complex belongs in our backyards for so many reasons and not just because we decided to live there because of the privacy," she said, and asked the board to find a long-term solution that allows for future expansion without harming neighbors.
Board members acknowledged the concerns and said they have begun following up on procedural questions. The board has contacted the school attorney and the city attorney and is working with ISG on permitting and annexation issues; Speaker 1 told the board to expect more information after the city's meeting next week. The board did not take action on the athletic-complex site at this meeting and indicated it would report back at the next regular session.
