Kirsten Kimbrell, who identified herself during the meeting's public-comment period, told the Colman‑Egan School District board she has been receiving more texts from her daughter during school hours and asked where the district's phone-use policy can be found.
"I've been getting a lot more texts from my daughter during school hours, and I think that's great that they have their phone during the school hours," Kimbrell said, and asked the board to direct her to the appropriate policy or staff contact. Chair S2 told her the superintendent's office prefers advance sign-up for comment but invited the comment and allotted five minutes.
The board did not take immediate action on the request. Members encouraged Kimbrell to follow up with district administration and said staff would point her to existing policy documents or clarify whether a specific, written policy covers the circumstances she described. The matter was recorded for follow-up but no formal referral or change was made at the meeting.
