Board approves one-year SRO MOU with county sheriff's office

Staff presented the one-year School Resource Officer (SRO) memorandum of understanding between the division and the County Sheriff's Department and said the MOU defines responsibilities for the division, sheriff's office and SROs to promote a positive school climate. The facilities/operations presenter noted the division has partnered with the sheriff's office for years and that the MOU is reviewed annually.
Board members asked whether changes coming to the sheriff's office would be accounted for in the MOU; staff responded affirmatively. The board made a motion, seconded, and approved the SRO MOU by voice vote.
