Board hears summary of summer professional learning and new PD plan

Dr. Browning told the Amelia County School Board the division ran a four-day ACPS PD week with more than 50 staff and strong survey scores; the presentation outlined a multilayered professional learning plan using GEAR UP, IXL and coaching cohorts.
Dr. Browning presented a summer recap and the division's professional development plan, saying, "We have had a summer full of professional learning." The presentation listed multiple PD opportunities (math innovation, GEAR UP events, literacy convening, leadership and coaching trainings) and described a new ACPS PD week with "4 days of PD, over 50 teachers and staff participated throughout the week, and we had a 116 feedback responses," which the presenter said will guide next steps.
The plan emphasizes cohort-based, sustained learning (fall and spring cohorts), instructional coaching, collaborative learning walks and partnerships (TTEC, BGSS, TMTP) to support math and leadership development. Dr. Browning said the division will use IXL for growth monitoring in grades 2'12 and retain other age-appropriate screeners for K'1; the board asked clarifying questions about parent representation and implementation timelines.
