Providence Farm amendment reviewed in informational session; public hearing set

County staff and the applicant team gave an informational presentation on a proposed water and sewer plan amendment for the Providence Farm property, which was annexed into the town of Centerville and rezoned to Town Traditional Development. The applicant team described the amendment request to move the property from S6W6 to S3W3 and said any eventual move to S2W2 would require public sewer availability and a subsequent amendment.

Attorney Joe Stevens described a likely multi-phased timeline: a planning process of roughly two years, plant expansion tied to town capacity, an anticipated first phase of around 100 units (depending on sewer allocations), and a potential 15-year full buildout. Town staff reported the Centerville plant is at 60% design and expects to go to 90% by Nov. 30, with capacity increasing from about "542,000 gallons per day to 1,000,000 gallons per day." Commissioners scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 25 at the Canal Library but debated and agreed to consider rescheduling to a daytime meeting in September so local residents would not need to travel to Canal Library.
