Director of Community Hub outlines 'Destination Peekskill' website and branding concept

Jonathan Zamora, the site manager and director of the Community Hub, walked the board through a concept for a new Destination Peekskill website and branding effort designed to centralize event listings, workforce and culinary programs, and partner resources.

Using a Provincetown tourism site as a structural example, Jonathan said the site would act as a single landing page and community bulletin: "Think of the website like Peekskill's front porch. It's really the first place people should land when they want to know what's going on," he said. The proposal would pull together seasonal events, parks and recreation programs, workforce development opportunities and local business listings so residents and visitors can find programming without navigating multiple social pages and calendars.

The city manager has coordinated a branding presentation to the city council on Feb. 17; the board expects a branded website preview at the IDA meeting on Feb. 27 or the next PFDC meeting after council review. The marketing effort would be funded primarily through DRI marketing dollars and proposed sponsorship/advertising, with the agency providing administrative oversight and reporting back to the board on activity and sponsorship arrangements.
