Randall County accepts $50,000 donation for Gary E. Robinson Memorial Range improvements

The Randall County Commissioners Court on April 28 voted unanimously to accept a $50,000 donation from the Ware Foundation and Emerald National Bank to support improvements at the Gary E. Robinson Memorial Range.

A county public-safety representative explained that the donation would be used for range improvements, primarily providing crushed granite (number 3 rock) as a base layer for newly installed turf and for better drainage. "They approached sergeant Clement and said we'd like to help you and we would be interested in donating ... $50,000," the representative said.

The judge told the court the auditor's office will coordinate receipt of the check, prepare acknowledgement letters and earmark the funds so the money is used for the donor's stated purpose. Commissioners asked practical questions about what materials would be purchased; staff confirmed the funds will cover crushed rock base and related range improvements.

The court approved a motion to accept the donation and instructed county staff to coordinate receipt of the funds and the issuance of a letter of appreciation. The motion passed 5–0.
